WAAM - Threads Through Time

Threads Through Time 2025
SAA Poster Contest submission.

This 13,000-year-old bone fragment, made from a red fox bone, is remarkably small and delicate, measuring less than two centimeters in length.

Their diminutive size, however, is not reflective of their importance to past peoples or of their significance to archaeologists in understanding human lives. If not for these delicate objects, people would have never colonized the Americas. Without them, spending the winter in Wyoming would have been impossible. Sewing needles directly speak to aspects of prehistoric human lives that other kinds of artifacts do not.
