Read All About It:

The Ormsby Home is eligible for inclusion in the Register of Historic Places as a locally significant building under Criterion B for its associations with Major Ormsby, a prominent Casper citizen during the early twentieth century. Ormsby was involved in several industries: first amassing substantial wealth through sheepherding, Ormsby later turned his attention to business and technological activities in Casper, including construction in the downtown corridor; development of the first wireless telegraph in Casper and pioneering its use for ranching operations; and the establishment of an airfield and commuter plane service in Casper in the early 1920s. The period of significance begins in 1915, when construction on the lot at 536 South Center Street began to 1942, when Ormsby retired with his wife to Phoenix, Arizona.
