The Sage Creek Community Club is located on the western edge of the Bighorn Basin and on the north side of U.S. Route 14-16, a two-lane paved highway, about 2.7 miles east of the southeast edge of Cody, Wyoming. The building stands on a relatively level terrace situated between Spring Creek on the west and Sage Creek on the east, both of which flow into the Shoshone River to the north. It is generally surrounded by agricultural lands, some of which are cultivated, and interspersed with farm and ranch building complexes. The building was constructed as a club house in 1924 using volunteer labor under the supervision of carpenter Conrad Johansson. It is a one-story, front-gabled wood frame building (60’ N-S x 32’ E-W) clad with clapboard siding and resting on a poured concrete foundation with a full basement. The building features extended open eaves with exposed rafter ends and brackets on the north and south sides. It has a prominent exterior red brick chimney, and the southeast corner of the raised foundation bears an incised building date of 1924. Exterior changes result from periodic maintenance and improvement of the structure, such as replacement of roof shingles, an enclosed flat-roofed, wood frame basement entrance from the 1950s, and door replacement.
