The Morris House is locally significant under Criteria B and C. It is significant under Criterion B because of its association with prominent Sweetwater County resident and politician Edward J. Morris. Morris built the house for himself and his wife in 1888. The Morris House is locally significant under Criterion C because of the uniqueness of its architecture. It is a well-preserved example of Stick-Victorian style architecture and one of the oldest houses in Green River, Wyoming.
The Morris House retains its integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. The period of significance for the Morris House begins with its construction in 1888 and ends with the death of Edward J. Morris in 1902.
